Peer Review Process

There is no set date for manuscripts submitted to be considered for publication in the Journal of the National Association for Alternative Certification. Manuscripts submitted will be processed as received and assigned to one of the members of our editorial board. We will attempt to notify authors of the decision of the double blind review within six months. If a decision to publish is offered, the manuscript will be scheduled for publication as soon as suggested editing is completed and approved by our copy editor, the editor, and the managing editor.

The managing editor will notify authors of the receipt of their submitted manuscript, and will assign the manuscript to one of the members of our editorial board. The editor will send the blind copy of the manuscripts to at least three members of our board of reviewers. The reviewing process will be double blind: authors and reviewers will be anonymous to each other. The reviewers will use a rating form that includes criteria and comments on the strengths and weaknesses of each manuscript. Once the review process is complete, the editor will receive the rating forms from the assigned reviewers. The rating form will be scored along with the reviewers recommendation to publish with or with out editing or to reject. The editor and managing editor will discuss the results of the review, and the editor will make the decision to publish or not to publish.

The managing editor will notify the authors to publish or reject. If a decision to publish the manuscript is made, the editor assigned to the manuscript will lead the editing phase of the process. The editor will approve all suggested editing based upon reviewer comments and the editor commments, and will submit the manuscript to the managing editor when satisfactory. The managaing editor will then submit the edited manuscript to the copy editor who will make final suggestions to make the manuscript publication ready. The author will be allowed to review the final project and make suggestions to the managing editor.
